#BleedTeal100

Giving Blood Saves Lives.

The blood you donate is a lifeline in an emergency and for people who need long-term treatments.

But across the UK and most notably in Northern Ireland, there is a shortage of many different blood groups and an urgent need for more donors.

This week on the A View from the Bridge podcast we launched the #BleedTeal100 drive for fans from the Belfast Giants and wider UK Hockey landscape to join us as we try to donate a combined total of 100 times through the 2019-20 EIHL Season.

We want to encourage every fan to donate blood as often as they are able through the season. In the hope that, by the time the final buzzer sounds in the EIHL Playoff Final, we will have donated 100 “pints” to the Blood Transfusion service.

But it doesn’t stop there!

In the coming days we intend to announce a sponsor who, for every “pint” given by YOU, they will donate the price of a pint of beer to the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service (NIBTS).

So your selfless act will not only save lives, but also help support a service that is so crucial to the health and well-being of everyone around us.

And we’d also like to thank you for doing it!

So, with the kind support of the Odyssey Trust and Heineken, everyone who donates will be able to claim a pint from McCools at the end of the season!

So How Do You Get Involved? It’s so easy!

Just follow these four easy steps!

  1. Find your local Blood Donation Location by visiting the NIBTS Website (NI) or Blood.Co.Uk (GB) and book an appointment.
  2. Get hooked up and give blood which will go toward helping save up to three lives!!
  3. Take a photo and share it with us on twitter using #BleedTeal100
  4. Feel that warm glow of having done something so easy, yet so very very important!

There are so many stories out there of just what giving blood can do for people. Take a Look!

blood1It’s the easiest and one of the most important acts we can do! And we really hope, if you are able, that you’ll take the time to help us reach our target of 100 donations!

Because blood or the components of blood are used to treat patients with medical conditions such as anaemia, cancer blood disorders, and those having surgery.

It is such a vital resource in our health service, and something we can help provide by just taking the time.

Thank you so much, and let’s race to 100!!
